One of the first wineries in New York, Merritt Estate Winery participates in many festivals and is a well sought-out venue for weddings and banquets.

Nestled in the hills on the east end of Lake Erie Wine Country, Merritt Estate Winery was established by William Merritt in 1976 on a farm that had been in his family since the 1860’s.  William Merritt still runs the winery with the help of his son, Jason. Under their leadership, Merritt wines have won prestigious awards and the family business has evolved into so much more.

The gorgeous grounds and outdoor pavilion at Merritt make it a perfect place for weddings, banquets and reunions. Merritt offers full-service catering for groups small and large. They also offer custom labels, gift baskets and a barrel adoption program.

Each year, on the second weekend of June, the Merritt grounds are alive with excitement as they hold their annual Strawberry Festival. The weekend after Labor Day, they celebrate once more with their popular Septemberfest. Both festivals feature their famous sangria wine slush, live music, celebrity athlete appearances, gift auctions, car and bike cruises and of course, wine tasting and free tours.

The Merritt’s travel extensively throughout the state, participating in several farmers markets and serving up their delicious wine and sangria wine slush. At home, they host a wonderful hospitality room and gift shop. With their rich family heritage, superb staff, and award-winning wines, Merritt is a great place to relax and take in the beauty of Lake Erie Wine Country.
