Lake Erie Wine Country features 23 unique, boutique wineries where you are sometimes greeted by a friendly dog or cat, where staff is pleasant and knowledgeable, and where the winemakers and owners are often available to chat. Some of our wineries are integrated with busy fruit farms, and all share a love for exquisite wine, tasty pairings, and providing savory experiences for new friends who stop by for a visit.

Our wineries produce award-winning wines including vinifera, ice wines, fruit wines and specialty wines such as brandies, sherries and ports. While it is true that many of the region’s best sellers are in the sweet and semi-sweet categories, our winemakers produce Merlot’s and dry Rieslings that rival those of California and France. Stop by and give them a try. Our wineries are open year-round for tours and tastings.

Some of the wines you’ll find in our wine region include:

French-Hybrid Varietal Wines:
Made from Seyval, Vidal, Chambourcin, Chancellor and Marechal Foch grapes.

European Vinifera Wines:
Made from the traditional Riesling, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

Native Labrusca Wines:
Made from American grapes such as Concord, Ives, Niagara, Catawba, and Delaware.
